    Introduction
  1. This Privacy Policy Statement ('Statement') sets out the responsibilities and policies that China Unicom (Hong Kong) Operations Limited ('CUHK', 'we', 'us', or 'our') shall adhere to while collecting, using, transferring, processing, retaining and protecting your personal data. This Statement explains the measures taken by CUHK in complying with the requirements under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chapter 486, laws of Hong Kong) ('PDPO').
  2. CUHK commits to fulfilling its responsibilities and obligations under the PDPO. We strive to safeguarding your privacy throughout our process of collecting, using, transferring, processing, and retaining your personal data and will use our best endeavours to protect our customers' personal data.
  3. In this Statement, “personal data” shall have the same meaning as defined under the PDPO.
  4. 'Customer', 'you' or 'your' refers to you or our customer.
    Collection and Use of Personal Data
  1. As a customer of CUHK, or a visitor or user of our website(s), it may be necessary for you to provide us with your personal data when you apply for, subscribe or continue to use our products or services. The provision of your personal data is voluntary. However, if you fail to provide us with your personal data, we may not be able to handle your application or request, respond to your inquiries, or provide you with our products and services.
  2. If a customer is aged below 16, the endorsement of an adult aged 18 or above is required pursuant to statutory requirement, and CUHK has to collect the personal information of the said adult at the same time. If a customer is corporate user, personal information of an individual aged 18 or above designated as the responsible person is required pursuant to statutory requirement. If you provide personal data of third parties to us, you must ensure that you have obtained all necessary consents from such third parties and that each of the third party is fully understand Statement.
  3. The personal data (and corporate data) that CUHK may collect includes the following five categories:
    1. Application for Services and Account Registration
      When you apply for our products and/or services, and to help you complete the account registration process, you will need to provide us with your:
      1. Individual customers: name, nationality,detailed address, identification document number (including passport), date of birth, ontact phone number, mobile number, email address, and biometric features.
      2. Corporate customers: company name, registered/operational address, industry and business type, business registration number, and personal data of the designated responsible person for that corporate user.
    2. Service Content and Usage Status
      When you use our products and/or services, to provide you with a continuous experience, accurate billing, and service quality assurance, we automatically collect certain information: your service usage, usage location/geolocation, calling or accessed service numbers, locations, access date, time, duration, interaction frequency, etc.
    3. Personalized Content Recommendations
      When you browse online, we automatically collect some information, including your search content, search times, browsing history and duration, and interaction counts. Based on this information, combined with any personal data you voluntarily provide (if any) and any other personal information you explicitly authorize (if any), we will analyze and calculate your preferences through automated systems to recommend more relevant content/business information to you.
    4. Ordering, Payment, and Delivery
      When you order or pay us, we will collect your payment information, including credit card and bank details, and if the ordered products need to be delivered to you, we will collect the detailed delivery address.
    5. Customer Service
      When you use our customer service or other user response functions, for the security of your account and system, we may require you to provide service numbers, account information, and match them with your previous personal data to verify your user identity. Additionally, to respond to inquiries, investigate complaints, and resolve issues, we may need to collect your contact details (the phone number/email you use to contact us or other contact methods you provide), the communication content with us (including text/images/audio/video/call records), and other necessary information related to your needs.
  4. CUHK may collect, use and analyze customers' personal data for the following purposes, including but not limited to:
    1. verifying your personal data and identity;
    2. processing your service application, and providing you with our products, services, devices and reward, loyalty and privilege program(s);
    3. handling your instructions, requests and responding to your inquiries, including but not limited to payment instructions and the provision of our services including direct debt and/or credit facilities as requested by you;
    4. conducting survey and analysis to understand and evaluate or explore customer's needs, credit limits, and payment status;
    5. evaluating debt owed by customer;
    6. conducting credit checks and management, including debt recovery;
    7. daily operation of products and services provision to customers;
    8. performing survey, research and analysis to improve and optimize our services and/or loyalty programs made available to you and your customer experience;
    9. designing other products and services and/or enhancing existing products and services offered by us;
    10. with your consent, marketing products, services and other activities and matters to you (please refer to the "Direct Marketing" section below);
    11. enabling CUHK to perform any obligations on interconnection or conform with industry’s other practices;
    12. complying with any disclosure requests from government or regulatory authorities and any requirements under applicable law;
    13. detection or prevention of crime; and
    14. any other purposes directly related or incidental to the above purposes.
    Accuracy
  1. CUHK will take measures to verify the accuracy of the personal data it collects. When providing personal data to us, customers should ensure that their personal data is accurate and to update us when there are changes in your personal data.
    Security
  1. We take appropriate steps and measures (such as authentication, access control, malware prevention, security audits, data encryption etc.) to ensure that your personal data is safely and securely stored at a place and/or on our system which can only be accessed by our authorized personnel. We prohibit any unauthorized access and inspection of the personal data collected from you. Your personal data is stored in Hong Kong.
    Access and Correction and Deletion of Personal Data
  1. You are entitled to:
    1. inquire whether CUHK is holding your personal data and to request access to such data;
    2. correct any inaccuracies in your personal data;
    3. delete your personal data; and
    4. ascertain CUHK's policies and practices in relation to personal data.
  2. Under the provisions of the PDPO, CUHK has the right to charge a reasonable fee for processing data access requests.
  3. If you wish to check whether we hold your personal data, access your personal data held by us, correct any inaccuracies in your personal data held by us, or delete your personal data, please visit our store in person to complete the appropriate request form. We will verify your identity and make the necessary arrangements during this process by checking your personal data and identification. We will process your request within 40 days of receiving it and confirm the result via email.
    Changing or Withdrawing Consent
  1. Customers have the right to change or withdraw their consent for us to process their personal data at any time. To change or withdraw consent, you can do the following:
    1. Visit our store in person to complete the appropriate request form, and we will verify your identity and make the necessary arrangements which may involve checking your personal data and identification.
    2. Manage and adjust the authorization methods and categories of the displayed content and information recommendations through our [CUniq Mall webpage or MyCUniq APP – My Account – Update Contact Information – Modify Data].
  2. Please note that for some categories of personal data, such as those necessary for providing basic services or fulfilling legal obligations, changes to authorization cannot be processed online (via webpage or APP) and must be done at our store in person.
  3. We will process your request to change or withdraw consent within 10 working days and confirm the result via email. However, your decision to change or withdraw consent does not affect any prior personal data processing conducted based on your authorization.
    Account Cancellation
  1. You can cancel your Cuniq Mall account through the following methods:
      1. If you log in to the mall using an email account, you can submit a cancellation request on our [CUniq Mall webpage or MyCUniq APP - My Account - Cancel Account].
      2. If you log in using a mobile service number or SIM card number, the account becomes effective with the mobile service plan. To cancel the account, please visit our store in person to apply for service termination.
    1. Please visit our store in person to complete the appropriate request form, and we will verify your identity and make the necessary arrangements which may involve checking your personal data and identification.
  2. After you cancel your Cuniq Mall account, the content, information, data, and records under that account will be deleted or anonymized (except where required by law or regulatory authorities).
    Data Retention
  1. CUHK will decide whether to erase the personal data that it holds in accordance with its internal policy set out below:
  2. Unless required to fulfill any applicable legal or contractual obligations, CUHK will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary for the fulfillment of the purposes for which the data was collected.
  3. CUHK will erase and/or delete all unnecessary personal data from its system in accordance with its internal policy, applicable laws and statutory requirements.
    Disclosure of Personal Data
  1. We will keep your personal data confidential but may provide or transfer your personal data to the following parties for the purposes set out above:
    1. any member of the China Unicom Group, including CUHK's associated companies, holding companies, affiliated companies, joint venture companies and any other companies controlled by CUHK or companies that are under the same shareholding structure;
    2. any agent, contractor or third party service provider who provides administrative, billing and debt-recovery, customer support, information technology, marketing, advertising and telemarketing services, market research, customer usage and behavioural analysis, process management, after-sales service, mailing, telecommunications, data processing, telemarketing and direct sales, computer, cloud, payment, call centre, or other services to CUHK;
    3. any banking or financial institutions, mortgage and credit card issuing companies, credit information bureau, debt-collection agencies or debt-recovery organizations and professional consultants such as accountants, auditors and lawyers;
    4. other telecommunication providers; and
    5. government, law enforcement, regulatory or other authorities where required by or otherwise permitted by law.
    Direct Marketing
  1. With your consent (which includes an indication of no objection), we intend to use your name and contact information (including address, phone number, mobile number and/or email address) for direct marketing purposes. The following classes of products, services and activities may be marketed:
    1. content services such as movies (Video-On-Demand) enjoyment;
    2. network services such as TV, telecommunications, over-the-top (OTT) services;
    3. mobile devices and accessories, mobile applications and software;
    4. mobile voice, mobile payment, SMS and data communications, IDD/roaming, Internet connectivity, mobile applications, cloud services, entertainment and data communications on Internet;
    5. other value-added services such as personal assistant services, information services (such as weather, finance and news information)
    6. reward, loyalty and privilege programs;
    7. lifestyle, networking events; and
    8. gaming, sports, music, beauty products, electronics, technology, ecommerce, mobile payment, travelling, banking, investment, entertainment, transportation, household, fashion, food and beverages, alcoholic drinks, insurance, education, health and wellness, social networking, charity activities, media and high-end consumer products and services.
  2. In addition to using for direct marketing the above products, services and activities by ourselves, with your written consent, we also intend to provide your name and contact information (including address, phone number, mobile number and/or email address) to other members of the China Unicom Group for use by them in direct marketing the same types of products, services and activities.
